Independent living

Eight neighborhoods, one set of 153 acres.

Independent living at Williamsburg Landing is not one building. It is eight distinct neighborhoods spread across a wooded, waterfront campus, so the choice is as much about where you want to wake up as about the floor plan.

Two are described on Williamsburg Landing's own pages: Edgewood, built in quintessential colonial Williamsburg style, and Anchor Cove, a newer development of Terrace Homes and Villa Apartments. The remaining six are shown here without names, because this is a sample and we do not invent what we have not read.

How it works

What a Life Plan Community actually means.

A Life Plan Community, sometimes called a CCRC, is one campus that covers the whole span of later life. You move in while you are independent, and the care you may need later is already there, run by the same not-for-profit, on the same grounds, among the same neighbors.

You move in independent

Residents join at 62 or older, choosing a home in one of eight independent living neighborhoods across the campus.

Daily life is the point

The health club, the Community Center, the dining venues and the arboretum are all part of living here, not extras bolted on.

Support is already on site

An on-site medical clinic, assisted living, Namaste memory support, short-term rehab, long-term nursing care and adult day services share the campus.

You do not start over

If needs change, the move is across campus rather than out of the community. Your neighbors and routines stay within walking distance.

Williamsburg Landing is a not-for-profit Life Plan Community, operating since 1985, serving adults 62 and older, and is CARF accredited. Rate sheets for healthcare and adult day services are published by Williamsburg Landing.

Questions

The questions people actually ask first.

Straight answers, drawn only from what Williamsburg Landing publishes. Where a figure is not published here, we say so rather than guess.

Who can move to Williamsburg Landing?

Williamsburg Landing serves adults 62 and older. The community is a single campus in Williamsburg, Virginia, and residents typically join while living independently, then draw on more support from the same campus if and when they need it.

What is a Life Plan Community, and is Williamsburg Landing one?

Yes. Williamsburg Landing is a Life Plan Community, also known as a Continuing Care Retirement Community or CCRC. That means independent living and the full range of later care sit on one campus under one not-for-profit organization, so a change in health does not have to mean a change of address outside the community.

What levels of care are available on campus?

The continuum includes an on-site medical clinic, short-term rehab, assisted living, long-term nursing care, memory support through the Namaste program, and adult day services. Independent living spans eight distinct neighborhoods on the same 153 acres.

What is included in assisted living?

Assisted living apartments range from 328 to 1,090 square feet and each has a kitchenette. Three meals a day, housekeeping and laundry are included. Residents have 24-hour support with activities of daily living, medication management, and access to on-site medical providers.

What does it cost to live at Williamsburg Landing?

Williamsburg Landing publishes its rates. Current rate sheets for healthcare and for adult day services are available for 2026 directly from the community. No figures are quoted on this sample page, because costs vary by residence, neighborhood and level of care, and the published sheets are the right source. Call the prospective resident line at (757) 565-6505 to be walked through them.

Is Williamsburg Landing accredited?

Yes. Williamsburg Landing is CARF accredited, which puts it among only 15% of accredited Life Plan Communities nationally. It has also been named a Top Senior Care Community for 2025, holds the AVP Seal for financial sustainability, and was a 2026 Best of Virginia winner for Assisted Living from Virginia Living Magazine.

What is Namaste memory support?

Namaste is the name of Williamsburg Landing's memory support program. It is delivered on the same campus as every other level of care, which means a resident receiving memory support stays inside the community rather than moving to an outside provider.

Is Williamsburg Landing not-for-profit?

Yes. Williamsburg Landing is a not-for-profit community and has been operating since 1985 on a single campus of 153 wooded acres.

What amenities are on the campus?

The campus includes the 25,000 square foot Doig Health Club & Spa, a 23,000 square foot Community Center with a 300-seat theater, several dining venues, and an accredited arboretum across the 153 wooded acres.

How do I arrange a visit?

Prospective residents can call (757) 565-6505, or the general line at (800) 554-5517. The community is at 5700 Williamsburg Landing Dr, Williamsburg, VA 23185. The form further down this page is a sample and does not submit anywhere.

Figures on this page that come from Williamsburg Landing's published material: 153 acres, founded 1985, eight independent living neighborhoods, 25,000 sq ft health club, 23,000 sq ft community center, 300-seat theater, assisted living apartments of 328 to 1,090 sq ft. Nothing else on this page is a statistic.

Give or apply

Two ways to be part of it from the outside in.

Williamsburg Landing is a not-for-profit. That shapes both of the paths below: one for people who want to support the mission, one for people who want to work inside it.
